First, let me thank all of you for your kind words and encouragement. As you can see, they work!

Today I got to spend some time with two of my grandchildren. Two-year old Drew and three-year old Harley. They are both almost the exact same height, only Drew outweighs her by about 18 pounds. Being that they are both the 'baby' in their respective families, and due to their ages, I thought there might be a little jealousy....and I was right!

Drew was only jealous when Harley climbed up into my lap, but recovered quickly once he realized that there was still room for him too! I was a little surprised at how well they actually played together. Of course Drew, being the younger of the two, wanted every toy that Harley touched. And Harley was trying to be very fair in offering Drew more blocks than she was going to have to play with. When Drew would say a different color, Harley would kindly and gently hand him the color he asked for. Before too long, Harley was left with no blocks and Drew had them all, but Harley didn't complain or fuss about it. She just waited patiently by until Drew went back to watching the 'Cars' movie or moved on to a different toy to play with. I was amazed at this. When she is with her brothers at her house, I have seen her scream, yell, throw things and hit until she gets her own way. Was she being good because her parents and brothers weren't here or do you think she was putting on a show in case Santa was watching? How I wish I had taken a picture of them together.....her mom and dad would never believe it otherwise!

She was the first to get picked up and Drew climbed back on my lap for some extra cuddle time. I was hoping he would fall asleep, at least for a while so he would be in a good mood for his Momma when she got home from work. But that wasn't going to happen. Every time his little eyes would start to close all the way, he would jump down off my lap and run and get another toy car to show me and tell me about.

I guess I could have put him in the pac-n-play and laid on the bed next to him until he went to sleep. That usually works. But it had been such a long time since he and I have been able to spend time together I didn't push the issue. Sorry Naive and Mr. Naive. I'll do better next time! ; )
