After having gazed through many blogs last night when I couldn't sleep, I decided to post today some thoughts about mothers! Following is a poem I learned once. I don't know who the author is or where I even read it first but I think it is a great tribute to all the mothers in the world ~
WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT MOTHERS?
What would we be without mothers?
How would the world survive?
Who would know how to make rainy days fun and who'd keep the goldfish alive?
Where would we be without mothers?
Who would believe in our dreams?
Where could we turn when we needed to hear that nothing's as bad as it seems?
How could we live without mothers?
Who'd be our chauffeurs and nurses?
And where in the world could we put all the stuff that mothers all keep in their purses?
So all of you mothers out there who have little ones still at home and all of you who have grown children, I think that the job of being a mother is one of the most important ones in the whole world. Be proud of who you are and what you are doing!

You really wrote this poem, didn't you?
What makes you ask that, naive-no-more? Do you think it sounds like me? What do you think?
Thanks, Martie. I am proud and so thankful to be a mom. My kids are 15 & 17 now, so they are soon going to be moving into more and more independence.
I should make them read this poem & memorize it.
(tee-hee)
Awww, thank you! A good reminder, especially since my 6-yr-old is home on Fall Break this week.
Sometimes I feel my efforts go unnoticed, unappreciated ... till I get that sweet wet kiss on the cheek and a tight hug from tiny arms. Then I know, it's all worthwhile.
Hardest job you'll ever love? Yep!
Good idea Jamie Dawn...I am the mother of 5 grown children ranging in age from 23 to 37 and the grandmother of 11 ranging in age from 1 yr. to 16 yrs with 2 more due in Jan. and 1 due in late May or early June. They won't truly appreciate you until they become parents themselves! But I appreciate the hard work you have put into raising them....are you a work at home Mom only or do you also work outside the home? I use the term work at home Mom because I feel that all mother's are working mothers!
Being a mother is the hardest, most wonderful thing in the world. I heard it once quoted, I believe by Elizabeth Glasier (sp) that having a child is like walking around with your heart outside your body. I think that says it perfectly.
My own mother is the most amazing person I know. She is wise and wonderful, beautiful, sweet, fun and caring. I never would have made it through life without her...
Lori, that is a very nice tribute to your mother. I hope you tell her these things to her face so she knows how you feel about her. It will mean a lot to her to know this if you haven't already done so. God Bless, you sound like a wonderful daughter and she did an excellent job with you!
Just a feeling. I think you wrote it. Fess up!
Can't tell you....it's a secret; but more than likely ~ just maybe!
Martie,
Yes, I think she knows. I wrote a post entitled "Mother" back in July or August for my mom and gave her a copy of it. I try to both tell her and show her how dear and beautiful she is to me.
My mom and I have had a lot of problems in the past, but on the whole I'd rather have her than anyone else to be my mama. :-)
