When it rains it pours....

the son who was in jail and released has now been in an accident. He crashed while riding on his dirt bike Saturday. I spent all Saturday night and all of the day on Sunday at the hospital with him.

His left ankle is shattered in 3 places and they need to do some surgery to put in plates and pins. However, they can't do the surgery until the swelling goes down. They sent us home. He has a splint on his left leg from his thigh to his toes. It is so swollen that the doctors are afraid it will compress the artery and cut off the blood supply and they will have to amputate his foot. They were very honest with us about that....he has a 50% chance of losing his foot! Not very nice odds to have to face at the age of 32. If the swelling goes down enough they hope to operate next Monday....that's his 33rd birthday! Nice present, huh? This news was quite a shock to him....it is the first time in a long, long time that he asked me to hug him and hold him. I did, and we both cried; he about the odds and me about seeing one of my children have to go through this and not being able to do anything to help him. I am praying that things turn out good for him!

For those of you out there who read this blog and believe in God, I would appreciate any and all prayers on his behalf.

He's a strong, healthy young guy, let's focus on the 50% chance of keeping the foot.

Hugs and prayers.

Martie, I know I've been quiet lately but you always have my prayers and support, especially in times such as these :).

Hang in there - you ornery types always beat the odds ;)

Sovereign Lord; Creator of the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that lives in and on them, I come to You lifting this young man and his beloved Momma to Your holy throne. How You love him! You created him before the foundation of the world; You knit him together in his Momma's womb; You know every day of his life and when he sits and when he rises. You love him! You desire to bring him into intimate relationship with You, and You are wooing him to You. May these extremes in his life become catalysts to drive him to run into Your arms and to stay there. You care about his foot and his injuries, but his heart is what You desire more than anything, and I pray that it is his heart that is broken and released into Your arms to heal and make whole.

I lift Martie up to You, Lord. How excruciating for a Momma to watch her baby walk through so much pain and to only be able to watch and pray. Come under her shoulders and lift this heavy burden just off her shoulders and bear the weight for her. Lighten her heart and soul and mind with an intimate knowing of Your Sovereignty in her son's life. Not one of these tragic events is a surprise to You. You knew he would spend time in jail; You knew he would have this accident; You are not surprised. In fact, You were already there, in his future, waiting for him.

Ohhhh, Sovereign Lord! You ARE Sovereign!!!!! Thank You for Your Sovereignty!!! Comfort Martie with Your Sovereignty as a warm blanket next to a burning fire on a cold, desolate winter's night. May she experience You as never before as she comes into intimate knowledge of a glimpse of what it was like to watch Your own Son suffer. You know. You love her. And Your tears are gently falling, mixing into hers, desiring to become a soothing balm to a torn heart. Thank You, God; thank You. I love You, Ame

Oh my..... Martie, I'm really sorry.....

You're right, when it rains it pours. I hope everything turns out well for your son. And you know what - everything happens for a reason, I like to believe that. While hopefully he doesn't lose his foot -maybe this series of events overall is meant to be a 'wakeup call' to help him reprioritize his life?

Thinking of you.....
