Little girl....who ME?

I was called a little girl today which seems pretty ridiculous since I am only a couple months shy of my 60th birthday! Of course the person calling me "little girl" was a gentlemen in his 80's or 90's.

I better start at the beginning. I had a very busy day planned today so I headed out bright and early to a Wal-Mart. Upon arriving the parking lot seemed quite empty. I ran in and got what I needed and was hurrying to get back to my car for the drive home. A car backed up without looking and hit me! I didn't fall down or anything and the man driving the car was the above mentioned gentlemen. He had what I am supposing was his wife with him and she was hollering at him. And she was crying after he hit me. He was crying too! I felt so sorry for them. He kept saying "I'm so sorry little girl, I'm so sorry. Are you sure you're alright little girl?" I guess when you are in your 80's or 90's someone my age must seem like a "little girl". If my left knee didn't feel as if it were on fire, I might have thought of the referral as a compliment!

After reassuring them both that I was fine, I gave them a wide berth to finish backing out of the parking spot and head for wherever else they might be going......hopefully home to park the car!

Tonight the outside of my knee, well actually just slightly above it where that muscle is, is swollen and is starting to bruise a little.

If the driver and his wife hadn't been so upset by the whole ordeal, I might have actually been a little angry. But, they were really quite nice about the whole thing.

This is, however, why I believe that elderly people should not be given driver's licenses without taking a new road test!

But this "little girl" is now going to head off to bed! Nighty-night!!

Gosh, that is kinda scary! I hope nothing comes of your knee and it is just a bruise. YIKES!

You poor thing. That was very nice of you not to make a big deal about your knee with those elderly people. It is so sad and yes I do agree about the driving test.

I hope your knee feels better. Perhaps the old ice and heat thing would be good. Take good care of yourself.

Good grief, woman! Glad to hear you're (more or less) okay. I'm sure they feel absolutely horrible - it was kind of you to not make a big deal about it.

I refrain from bad mouthing the elderly gent's driving ... since I ran into my garage door a few weeks ago ... which should have been MUCH more obvious than some little girl darting behind me at the last second. *blush*

Aww... and how's your knee today?

Don't worry about muscle damage, though- those show up QUICK. If it isn't feeling like your leg is going to open up and winged monkeys fly out, then it's just a deep bruise.

Thank you all for your concern! My knee is fine....really! It only hurts when I push on the actual bruise so I am sure there is nothing wrong with it and I will quit pushing on the bruise. It will be gone in a few days and be a thing of the past! Besides, I'm a "tough lady"! LOL

Oh that's terrible! Take it easy on that knee! I agree with you on driver's license testing. Rest up. Hugs!

Oh my, I sure hope your little knee isn't seriously damaged. I'm with you on the testing for older drivers. A friend of my ex's lost his leg in an infamous accident here in CA where a very elderly person hit the gas instead of the break and crashed right through the window of THE DMV of all places, hitting a bunch of people inside

Take care.

Maybe the source of your pain is from playing on the floor with my son. You're going to spoil him you know?

That's a contributing factor with the other knee! LOL

I can't spoil him by playing with him and loving him! I still tell him "no" and make sure he minds so it isn't harder for you when you return. He doesn't ALWAYS get his own way.....just almost always!!

Heh heh. You said "hollering". Hollering. That's awesome.
