Thoughts now turn toward Christmas.....

With the Thanksgiving holiday now behind us I can start thinking of shopping for Christmas. I can't believe the stores start advertising for Christmas earlier each year. I think the first Christmas merchandise I saw in a store this year was the day after Halloween. Come on, people! Isn't that pushing it just a little?

But now, I am ready to think about and even start shopping and decorating for Christmas. In fact, I am actually getting excited about beginning this special holiday season. Christmas is a wonderful time of year. People are usually filled with good cheer and well wishes for the entire human race. Oh, I know there are some who are "bah, humbuggers" but I refuse to let them get to me and ruin a perfectly lovely time of year with their bad attitudes! So in keeping with the true meaning of the Christmas Holiday, I am including an invitation that I received to a very special party and hope that you can make it too!

CHRISTMAS PARTY INVITATION

You are cordially invited to

A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!!!

Guest of Honor: Jesus Christ

Date: Every day. Traditionally, December 25
but He's always around, so the date is flexible....

Time: Whenever you're ready.
(Please don't be late, though, or you'll miss out on all the fun!)

Place: In your heart.... He'll meet you there.
(You'll hear Him knock.)

Attire: Come as you are... grubbies are okay.
He'll be washing our clothes anyway. He said something about
new white robes and crowns for everyone who stays till the last.

Tickets: Admission is free. He's
already paid for everyone...
(He says you wouldn't have been
able to afford it anyway...
it cost Him everything He had. But
you do need to accept the ticket!!

Refreshments: New wine, bread, and a
far-out drink He calls "Living Water,"
followed by a supper that promises to be out of this world!

Gift Suggestions: ; Your life. He's one of those
people who already has everything else.
(He's very generous in return though.
Just wait until you see what He has for you!)

Entertainment: Joy, Peace, Truth,
Light, Life, Love, Real Happiness,
Communion with God, Forgiveness, Miracles, Healing, Power,
Eternity in Paradise, Contentment, and much more!
(All "G" rated, so bring your family and friends.)

R.S.V.P. Very Important!
He must know ahead so He can
reserve a spot for you at the table.
Also, He's keeping a list of His friends for future
reference. He calls it the "Lamb's Book of Life."

Party being given by His Kids (that's us!!)!
Hope to see you there! For those of you whom I will
see at the party, share this with someone today!

It is a shame how commercialized Christmas has become. It does seem that you see ads for Christmas sooner and sooner each year. I believe though that retailers have to compete. It is like a domino effect. If you have retailer “A” advertising in late October, then retailer “B” feels compelled to do so as well. And, I think the Christmas shopping where I live started before Thanksgiving. The traffic build-up increased two weekends before Thanksgiving. I don’t know why, but I do believe people in my geographic area are shopping earlier this year.

I want to have a tree this year. I haven’t had one in years. Hugs!

Oh yes, Editor, I think you should have a tree. And take a picture of it once you have it decorated and post it so we can see! HUGS!

I am one of those hum buggers and so is dad. I just can't stand the Christmas time rush and how expensive it always turns out. We even downgraded this year and didn't buy for near as many and still are spending way too much. Don't get me wrong, I don't think hum bugger about the reason for the season.

Yes, Rachel, the expense of Christmas has gotten out of hand. Kids think they need everything they see. I have found it isn't so much the amount of the gift, but the amount of giving associated with the gift!!!! ;)

Hey Martie....

I too enjoy the Christmas season. We had our first snowfall today. It got me so excited I decorated my house. I won't get my tree for at least another week or so, but it was so much fun decorating. I had my brother and hubby outside putting up lights. I made my cedar bows and surrounded my doors with cedar there is just something about that, I think it stems from a childhood memory and my father.

Thank you for your kind thoughts on my blog. I think a short break is all I need .....take care my friend!!

Cheers!

This is sweet. :-)

I think the tree should go up today. It's always been tradition to put it up on Thanksgiving weekend. My poor little wobbly tree! I think this might be the year to get a new one on clearance after Christmas. And I can get out my CD of Christmas songs played on harp to listen to while we decorate. Ahhh.

Oooo, I did see some wine on the invitation. Count me in! ;)

Christmas seems like it comes faster because it's advertised so much earlier every year.

Well, that's my opinion anyway!

Hope you're doing well Martie...
