Up a Creek......

So, here it is...almost autumn and then follows winter! Brrrrr.....the cold mornings and frosty air. This is all regarding the title of this post. The temperature dropped to a low of 42 degrees in the wee hours of the morning.
We have hot water heat in our home. We moved into our present home a little over a year ago. The boiler/furnace/heating source is not working properly. Hubby thinks we need a new one! We're only talking about $1500. and I'm not sure that even covers the installation or just the cost of a new system! I've been leaving reminders (ads from the newspaper) around as subtle (or not so subtle) hints that he needs to do something soon.

We have three different heating zones in our home, the lower level, the middle level and the upper level. Of course, the bedrooms are on the upper level and that is the zone that isn't working. Well, that isn't entirely true. I'm not quite sure how the zones are split, but it is our bedroom that doesn't seem to be getting any heat at all. With the temperature dropping into the 40's at night, our bedroom tends to get a little chilly come morning...... and that isn't very conducive for getting out of bed. It is much easier and more comfortable for me to linger under the covers a little longer than I should.

He called from work today and asked me to call a heating place in a nearby town. He said that hopefully they won't be that busy yet. HA HA HAHAHAHAHAH!

I called and they are....imagine that! The first opening they have is for 11:00 AM on October 11th. They took the information and we are now scheduled for that day. See what happens when one procrastinates!!

My husband has always wanted hot water heat...doesn't it make your floors nice and warm? (well...when it's working properly, I mean)

If I were you.....I'd just stay in bed until it's fixed!;)
Well, except for the weekend I'm going to be there of course! :)

LOL, wow, are they busy or what! You should live in my home. No insulation. I suppose there has to be some here, but you wouldn't know it if you lived here. We rent. I'm looking for a cabin to buy in the Smokies. Know of any? Send'em my way. ;o)

Oh my ... well, I'd just stay in bed longer, too ... or you could set yourself up a little "nest" in a warmer part of the house and let him enjoy sleeping in the cold room by himself for a night! Uhhh ... that's probably not very nice. What's hot water heat?

Oh Martie that's terrible! You need to be down here with me. Our low's are still in the 60's with a high in the 80's today. Now one morning last week, we did have a low of 59 but it warmed up to the mid 70's.

Once during the start of summer, my air conditioner failed in the apartment I was living in. This was a different apartment than the one I'm in now. My landlord called a repair man and the wait was similar to what you mentioned.

I guess the beginning of summer or fall/winter is their busy seasons. I hope that you'll be able to get service before then.

Hey Martie,

I was going to say that I like the picture! Why don't ya'll come on down and I'll fix you some gravy and grits. :) I'm fixing cooked cabbage right now. Going to have some beans and cabbage with cornbread.

I hope you get your heat going soon. One of my friends has a new baby and the same problem--she's worried it's too cold at night for them all.

Me, I am still leaving the patio door off my bedroom open a few inches at night and haven't turned the heat on yet. I like it when the autumn wind blows the curtains around. Crazy eh?

My bed is very cozy and I admit like having my nose cold and my feet warm. But only until about the end of October and after that I'll close the door.

We haven't turned on the heat yet either. I told hub to check the filter first and he hasn't done it yet. I may have to find it myself! It felt really chilly in the house this morning but when I looked at the thermastat it said 68 and that is pretty good. If it gets much colder than that though, I think we're going to have to turn it on. I'll pray for you that we don't get much colder than this before Oct 11th! ;)

Oh, nasty. Mornings are hard enough to deal with without them also being cold!

hahha, tell me you fixed that picture to say that??? That's awesome!!!!

Aaaah yes, cold mornings. I remember them well... last year we had lots of problems with our thermostat not working so the heat never came on. Trust me - don't procrastinate!!! Although snuggly mornings are a nice side effect... ;)
