Stupid commercials!

I don't usually rant and rave about something I've seen on television, but this has really ticked me off.

There is a commercial out for a 'no touch' soap dispenser. It advertises that the other soap dispensers are covered with germs when you touch the top to dispense the soap. Do these people really think we are all idiots? That we can't figure out that if you pick up germs from the touchable soap dispenser to get soap in your hand to wash, that the antibacterial soap you have in your hand will not destroy the germs you may have picked up from the top of the soap dispenser.

I mean, really, the tactics manufacturers will stoop too in order to get the public to purchase their products. And what an insult to our intelligence!

I guess it's really trivial in comparison to the over all conditions we all face in this world............but this one just pushed me over the top!

Good Night!

Since when are we supposed to think about this stuff? Just watch and buy like the rest of us drones. It's the nail that sticks out that gets hammered. do you really want to invite an anti-bacterial hammer?

Good show.

This is exactly why I channel surf during commercials. My remote has a busy life!

It is okay to rant about television commercials. There is much to say about some of them. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to throw a shoe at the tv over dumb commercials.

Hope you are doing well.

Randomly hit "next blog" and came across your rant -- could not agree MORE! I hate that commercial!!! It's basically fear-mongering in order to sell their stupid product. I really get ticked off when companies try to make parents feel like they're not being good parents if they don't buy the latest product. And yes, it is an "insult to our intelligence!" Good call. :)

HA HA ... Somebody better tell that guy it's all for not anyway when he grabs that gross germ covered doorknob when he leaves.

I love that I am not the only one that was pushed over the edge by that commercial! I too, was like, 'huh?'. Now it's the disposable towel dispenser thing that kills me. As if we need another thing to put on the list when we go to the store. Just wash your handtowels regularly or use paper towel.. Not that we need another reason to cut down trees. Um, but yes.. I agree with your post. I digressed.:)

I just stopped by to tell you I saw an ad in the coupons for the hands free soap thing and thought of you. Funny enough, I also saw one for the disposable towel dispenser!

Crazy. More dollars than sense!

My mother-n-law actually bought one of these soap dispensers and my husband was there one day recently and told her she better not let me see it or I would go off!! LOL

The fear of germs has totally infested our world. You can take a thing too far. Good grief. I know children who are afraid to play and get dirty. These commercials add to the fears and probably contribute to our lack of immunity to some germs. Hmm.
